Pioneer VSX921

The Pioneer VSX-921 meets all the popular AV receiver needs: 7.1 surround sound in HD, and a digital connection with your iPod, iPhone or iPad without dock. Additionally, it adds in easy-to-operate worldwide internet radio and network streaming via DLNA or Apple Airplay when you connect via LAN (adapter for wireless LAN available). LPCM, WAV, FLAC and other lossless formats are supported.

Pioneer VSX-921 compatible (free) smartphone/tablet apps include the advanced remote control app iControlAV2 and Air Jam, a Bluetooth-based social app.

The VSX-921 has 6 HD inputs including 4 x HDMI.

Intelligent speaker calibration.

Surround speakers can hardly be ideally positioned. MCACC therefore analyses the existing sound field using a microphone (included), just like a sound professional, and adjusts the sound timings to precision-tune the system to your room.

Digital Direct connection with your iPod, iPhone or iPad.

No need for a dock – you can plug your Apple device directly in the VSX-921 . Thanks to the digital connection, you get the best possible audio quality (further enhanced by the Advanced Sound Retriever). Furthermore you can view photos and videos on, and stream apps like YouTube to your TV.

Stream with AirPlay.

Apple's AirPlay lets you wirelessly stream music from any compatible device. This means you can easily enjoy your iTunes music library through your VSX-921.

 Stream with DLNA.

DLNA is now widely supported on PCs, laptops, smartphones and other devices. The VSX-921  Receiver being DLNA certified, you can easily stream audio and video from such a device using your home network.

The remote of the future.

iControlAV2 is our 2nd-generation app that lets you control all important receiver functions from your smartphone or tablet. Control playback, select an input, adjust listening modes and change sound balance and emphasis from one app. Available for iOS, with an extra dedicated interface for the iPad.

Music listening made social.

Air Jam is a Bluetooth-based app that lets a group of people connect with their iPhones, iPod Touch or iPads and add their songs to the receiver playlist. Participants can see which song was, is or will be playing – a great way to share and discover tunes. Requires iOS 4.2 with iPhone 4/3GS/3G, iPad or iPod touch (2nd gen. or higher).

Less jitter, better audio.

Transmission via HDMI can cause clock jitter, causing sound distortion during the D/A conversion. PQLS “speed synchronises” the digital audio data between the receiver and your Blu-ray player, reducing the jitter. The result is clear, rich and precise audio.

Image optimised for you.

Pioneer VSX-921 uses Advanced Video Adjust which optimises the video signal according to your type of screen or projector. Based on MCACC calibration data, it also adjusts image quality to your distance from the screen.

Intuitive setup and operation.

AVNavigator software makes installing a breeze. Wiring Navi automatically calibrates your receiver to your personal setup including speakers and other devices, while the interactive manual lets you intuitively explore every feature. AVNavigator is included on a CD-ROM and is also available as a free iPad app.
