Wireless, multi-room digital music
Built-in wireless capability: ZonePlayers can go
anywhere and connect wirelessly when a wired Ethernet connection is not
available. ZonePlayers and Controllers will establish their own secure
wireless mesh network. NOTE: To get started, you must connect either a
ZonePlayer or ZoneBridge™ to your home network using a standard Ethernet
cable.
SonosNet™: A secure AES encrypted, peer-to-peer
wireless mesh network that streams music wirelessly to other ZonePlayers,
avoiding sources of wireless interference while ensuring synchronous music
playback.
Multi-zone synchronous playback: Plays the same song

connected to a ZonePlayer.
Playback of popular audio file types: Support for
compressed MP3, WMA (including purchased Windows Media downloads), AAC
(MPEG4), Ogg Vorbis, Audible (format 4), Apple Lossless, Flac (lossless) music
files, as well as uncompressed WAV and AIFF files. Native support for 44.1kHz
sample rates. Additional support for 48kHz, 32kHz, 24kHz, 22kHz, 16kHz, 11kHz,
and 8kHz sample rates. Apple "Fairplay" and WMA Lossless formats not currently
supported.
Playback of Internet radio: Plays Internet radio
stations using streaming MP3 and WMA format. ZonePlayer comes with over 300
pre-programmed radio stations and it's simple to add more via the Sonos
Desktop Controller.
Analog audio input with digital encoding: Music from
an external audio source (such as a CD player, radio or MP3 player) connected
to a ZP80 can be played by all other ZonePlayers in the system.

Once the Sonos system has been registered, Sonos will automatically notify you
when software updates are available. Simply press one button to update your
system.

Search: Quickly find the music you want to hear by
searching for the artist, album or track within your personal music collection
or music service.
Alarm with clock, snooze, sleep timer and scheduler
features: Set the alarm and wake up to your favorite music or Internet radio
station in one room or all over the house. Fall asleep to soothing music with
the sleep timer.
Use the scheduler to play music at a specific time for
a set duration—great for that 30-minute workout.
Automatic library indexing: Schedule your library to
automatically update on a daily basis—ideal for updated podcasts and Audible

Network bridging: The ZP80 has 2 Ethernet ports that
can be used to connect other devices to the home network through SonosNet.
